Circle of Equanimity

Yesterday, we talked about the meaning of equanimity. For kids, this was simply realizing that instead of grouping people into those that we like (cling), dislike (push away) or are neutral towards (don’t care), we can try to develop a warm feeling towards all.

One of the older kids asked if that includes mean people and we talked about how we can still act appropriately on the outside to protect ourselves and others from danger, but realize in our hearts that they are suffering.

To symbolize equanimity, we made circles of people holding hands using these directions:
